Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer and enforce the Township’s Zoning, Subdivision and Land Development, and Stormwater Management Ordinances.
- Oversees the Community Development Department, and provides direction and assistance to staff within the Department.
- Provides technical and staff assistance to the Planning Commission, UCC Board of Appeals, and Zoning Hearing Board.
- Oversees review of land development, subdivision, and site plans, as well as building permits, with third party engineering consultants and building inspectors.
- Assist the Director of Finance and Manager with the development of an annual operational budget for the Community Development Department, and monitor all expenses of said Department.
- Research and recommend Ordinance amendments and policies related to zoning, land development, stormwater management, and code enforcement.
- Assist the Department of Public Works and engineering consultants in development and enforcement of the Township’s MS4 program.
- Coordinate updates of the Township’s Geographic Information System (GIS) network with the GIS Administrator
- Develop requests for proposals for professional services on an as-needed basis.
- Prepare professional reports on zoning, code enforcement, and land development matters.
- Complete other assignments as directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge zoning, land development, and code enforcement ordinances and practices.
- Familiarity with the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to explain complex land development and building code concepts and issues in a simple, professional, and direct manner.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with Township staff, consultants, and vendors.
- Capability to design, code, test, document, implement, and modify existing computer applications to meet user end needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
- Competence to maintain records and prepare reports on matters pertinent to zoning and land development in the Township.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The primary work environment is an office setting, however there will be periods of time that work is conducted in outdoor settings and at the Township’s wastewater treatment plant.
- Work requires walking, ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds of weight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in planning, public administration, architecture , or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government or planning related field
- Additional certifications such as AICP or BCO may be substituted for experience and education

The Township of Hampton is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Land Use Administrator. This position works under the Municipal Manager and performs complex professional, administrative, and technical work enforcing the Township’s Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, as well as managing the Community Development Department. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or a related field and three (3) years of progressive experience in municipal government or planning. The Township will take into consideration any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the required knowledge and skills to perform essential functions of the position.
