The Subdivision and Land Development Review Process in Pennsylvania

The local development review process prescribed by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code is complex.  It can frustrate local officials, developers, and the public.  It can lead to community controversy when not handled well.

The webinar is designed for local officials involved in reviewing subdivision and development plans and related zoning actions like conditional uses and variances.  It will provide a refresher on the MPC-prescribed steps, timelines, and roles of elected officials, planning commission, staff, and consultants.  And it will provide suggestions for improving the process and interacting effectively with applicants and developers. These suggested improvements are being implemented in some Pennsylvania communities.

Finally, the webinar will provide examples of case law that further define the MPC requirements for review of subdivisions and land development.
