Form Based Codes – why, where and how

Topics will include the “why, where, and how” of FBCs: Why do communities consider adopting a form-based code? Where do they make sense? How does a form-based code differ from a conventional zoning ordinance? What typically is regulated under a form-based code and what is not? How can a form-based code help to create places that are environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable? Emphasis will be on the ways FBCs can be used to shape the built environment and define the public realm; support multi-modal transportation alternatives; and preserve and enhance neighborhood character.  The presentation will include a PowerPoint presentation with numerous images and ample time for Q&A and discussion.
