Central Section presents Guideposts for Decision Making: Land Use Law and Ethics

This Land Use Law and Ethics Workshop is sure to benefit you in many ways. The morning session offers an in-depth review of significant land use decisions issued by the Commonwealth and Supreme Courts of PA since the Fall of 2012. An overview of decisions made by the PA Courts of Common Pleas, the Federal Courts of the Third Circuit sitting in PA, and PA administrative agencies, that are of general interest to municipal planners, will also be presented.

The afternoon session will provide a detailed look at the ethics rules governing planners, including the AICP Code of Ethics and the PA Ethics Act. The presenter will review the general rules of conduct and how professionals should operate their business, as well as cover investigation and enforcement procedures. An overview of common ethical issues that arise in the public setting will also be presented.
