Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association announces the opening of registration for our Annual Conference, July 16 to July 19, 2017 at the Hotel Roanoke. Discounts are available for APA members and students. This year, our Conference focuses on “future communities” and how we are, as planning professionals, leading the way in planning for the future. 

Our host community, the City of Roanoke, VA and the Roanoke Valley, is the perfect location to see planning for future communities in action. Roanoke offers a great opportunity for planners to get out in the community through mobile tours, with more than 8 offerings throughout the Conference. The Conference Program also includes a variety of break-out sessions and workshops on topics ranging from driverless vehicles to smart cities to planning for natural disasters to creative efforts in plan making & civic engagement. We also are pleased to offer deep dive courses in leadership for local elected/appointed officials and senior/management-level professional staff. Conference highlights are being featured in our blog, updated each week.  Conference attendees can earn up to 18 CM credits, including the required 1.5 law and 1.5 ethics credits.
