D. Jeffry Pierce, 64, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 27, 2015, at 10:29 a.m., surrounded by his family. Jeff was born Aug. 13, 1950, and married Karen Jena on May 15, 1971. He graduated from Norwin High School in 1968, attended Slippery Rock University, and later became zoning officer for Slippery Rock Borough and Cranberry Township. In 1990, he and his wife, Karen, started their own company, Data Plan Inc. For the last 15 years, he was director of community planning for Olsen and Associates. He was a certified instructor for the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute. Jeff loved his family, music and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was active in several bands as a bass player, lyricist and singer/songwriter. He is survived by his wife, Karen, at home; a daughter, Beth and husband, Tom Micco; two sons, Josh and wife, Greta Pierce, and J. Wyatt Pierce; his parents, Winnie and Carl Mikan; a sister, Sandy Kovalcin; and brother, Carl John Mikan. He was a proud papa to three grandsons, Lennon and Marshal Pierce and Elliot Pierce Micco. He was expecting his first granddaughter in July.
