$35
PA Chapter of the American Planning Association and the PA Local Government Training Partnership presents:

Aligning Planning, Policy and Practice to Foster Public Health will address an emerging and critical issue in planning – how the built environment and planning processes can work to improve public health. The session will highlight efforts to plan for public health – or plan with health outcomes in mind – by different sectors and suggest opportunities for meaningful collaboration. Pennsylvania’s State Health Improvement Plan, 2015-2020, and the role of the build environment in combating priority health concerns will be addressed. Service-area planning required of non-profit hospitals will be explained and suggestions for planners and communities to share relevant data and work collaboratively with hospital partners toward common goals will be shared. The importance of having and upholding health-focused development policies will be highlighted. Finally, Carlisle’s nationally recognized walking and biking infrastructure and local health partnership will be presented.

Approved for 3CM credits
