Learning objectives include:
Recent land use court decisions: receive a better understanding of current land use issues, how courts are handling the issues, and how to adjust local planning ordinances
Land use control over mini cell towers:The increase in demand for wireless broadband has led to new wireless facilities, such as mini-cell towers and antennas, in the public rights-of-way. This workshop will address these changes in wireless technology, describe municipalities’ legal rights, and recommend steps to control these facilities and preserve the character of your community
New techniques for traffic calming: Participants will hear about the latest techniques in traffic calming and learn about the steps needed to implement a Safe Streets program. Additionally, we will have health experts discuss the medical benefits of alternative transportation modes, particularly walking and bike modes. These are integral to the Complete Streets.
