Lehigh Valley Land Use Briefing

The Lehigh Valley Law Briefing Seminar is a briefing on the latest developments in land use law across Pennsylvania and interactive discussions on the issues that affect planners, municipal jurisdictions and real estate development professionals most. The seminar will provide recent case decisions that impact land development today.

Presenters Blake C. Marles, Esq., Steven D. Buck, Esq., James F. Kratz, Esq. will speak about recent case law involving the following topics:

    • Voluntary Developer Contributions or Exactions?. This legal session will provide the legal implications of municipal driven land sales including bribery and extortion. The case: The Commonwealth vs. Moran discusses the relationship boundaries between a municipality and a developer.
    • Plan Approvals: What Are Your Rights After the Decision? Developer and municipal roles and responsibilities during and after a land development decision is rendered. Case law discussed include: Duty of Good Faith; receiving and interpreting a written decision; and conditional approval requirements.
    • Pennsylvania Land Use Appellate Case Law and Statutory Update. The case: Slice of Life vs. Hamilton-Short-term rental or lodging will be discussed in detail.
