Planners and especially those who are urban designers, use photographs and other graphic images for presentation, websites and documents to illustrate ideas. One of the richest sources of images is the internet. Professor Carroll will provide the basics of intellectual property law about using images you find on the internet. He will also describe the innovative sharing network called Creative Commons, which allows you to easily and quickly use a much more expansive gallery of images. Creative Commons is described as “a global organization that provides free, standardized copyright licenses to enable and to encourage legal sharing of creative and other copyrighted works.” This session is approved for CM Law credits.
