Pro Bike Pro Walk Pro Place Conference: Grant Writing Workshop

September 12, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Grant Writing Workshop (day after the Pro Bike Pro Walk Pro Place Conference)
Friday, September 12, 9 AM to Noon

A key challenge to implementing active transportation projects is finding funding. Register early to ensure a seat in this half-day post-conference workshop focused on winning grant writing strategies. Learn how federal, state, MPO, foundation, and corporate support requests will be viewed and scored by key decision makers.

Explore key strategies for successful grant applications, using now-built examples in large and small communities. Participants will learn the science of selecting compelling project partners, tailoring applications to the funding mechanism criteria, identifying and documenting community support, and developing working relationships with the agencies that fund projects.

This workshop will be led by veteran grant-writers Ben Gomberg, shepherd for $50 million for bikeway projects as Chicago’s former Bicycle Program Coordinator; and active-transportation visionary Bud Melton, a Principal at Bowman-Melton Associates, with twenty years of successful fund-finding for bike/ped projects throughout North Texas. Learn from the masters how to make the case for seemingly small projects that make huge differences in how cities grow well, and how people thrive, work and play.
