Autism Planning and Design Guidelines 1.0
Ohio State graduate and undergraduate students created a planning and design framework for planning with people with autism to create a public realm that addresses their needs. This work was the culmination of a 1.5-year planning process that included adults with autism, parent caregivers of adults with autism, professionals from planning and planning- and urban design-related fields, and experts on autism. The students’ work informs practicing planners who wish to consider planning with people with autism and the impacts of policies and plans affect people with autism. This toolkit of design and policy guidelines helps planners become proactive in creating more inclusive places relative to autism
