Description

 

The candidate will collect, compile and analyze transportation, socio-economic, environmental and other types of data for use in preparing technical studies and reports. The primary responsibility will be to provide GIS and analytical support for the various planning programs of the Commission including, but not limited to: transportation, regional, community, and environmental planning. Subdivision/land development, zoning, sewer module, and other local plan reviews can be expected as part of the job. Attendance at evening meetings to support the local planning assistance program will be required and the successful candidate will be expected to provide personal transportation to these meetings, mileage for which will be reimbursed as provided under the IRS code.

Requirements 

 

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a range of planning issues and hold a degree in planning, or a planning-related field. This individual with have a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS), data analysis, and in the application of data to support planning processes. Experience with scripting languages and databases is strongly preferred, but is not required. Strong written/oral communication skills, familiarity with planning concepts and trends, and computer proficiency are expected. Previous experience working with the PA Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) and MPO regulations is a plus.
