Michael Baker International’s Harrisburg, PA office is seeking an experienced Senior Public Funding and Economic Development Specialist to support the firm’s dynamic and growing planning practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering a diverse portfolio of technically challenging public funding and economic development projects for our public and private clients. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and collaborating with Michael Baker’s national network of planning and engineering experts located in various offices throughout the United States to help promote and deliver the firm’s public funding and economic development services.

The Senior Public Funding and Economic Development Specialist position reports to the Harrisburg Office Planning Director and will perform the following typical functions:

Responsible for leading the Harrisburg Office’s public funding services that includes grant writing and administration for our public and private clients. Public funding includes local, state, and federal grant and economic development financing programs.
Manages and performs advanced professional work related to variety of complex planning assignments on a local, county, regional, and statewide basis
Conduct meetings with public officials, citizens, and project stakeholders
Assists with the firm’s marketing and business development efforts to include proposal development and interview presentations
Supervises more junior staff within organization

Job Requirements 

 

The successful candidate will entail the following knowledge and capability characteristics:

Well-developed knowledge and demonstrated experience with local, state, and federal grant, loan, and tax credit, and financing programs, including PA Office of Budget’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) and various federal infrastructure funding programs administered through the USDOT, EDA, USDA, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting reports and projects
Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection
Experience with computer programs and applications, which include Microsoft Office Suite, economic impact modeling, and database management
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to accommodate moderate travel including a valid driver’s license
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s or Masters degree in urban planning, Economics
5-10 years of experience
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred
COMPENSATION

The compensation range for this position is $93,844-$140,779 in Harrisburg, PA and will be dependent on the incoming candidate’s skills and experience.
