WHAT WE’RE ABOUT – We’re looking for motivated, out-of-the-box thinkers to join a department dedicated to making Lancaster County, Pennsylvania a better place to live, work, and visit. At the Lancaster County Planning Department, we build on the strengths of our staff to create a positive work environment and help our community plan for its future. We’re located in downtown Lancaster, a vibrant, walkable city in a county known for its world-class farmland, natural areas, and distinctive small towns. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING – You’ll play a key role in implementing the Lancaster County comprehensive plan, places2040. This plan emphasizes a countywide and regional approach we call “thinking beyond boundaries.” Senior Planners promote this philosophy in everything they do, which includes 1) working externally to promote best practices in planning and consistency with county plans and policies; 2) managing projects, organizing meetings, giving presentations, and providing input on plans and programs; and 3) guiding other staff in research, data collection & analysis, records maintenance, and meeting preparation. FOCUS OF THIS POSITION – This position has an emphasis on reviewing comprehensive plans, subdivision/land development plans, subdivision/land development ordinances, and zoning ordinances for consistency with adopted policy plans. |

Minimum qualifications for this position are 1) a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 1 year of varied and complex experience in planning; or 2) a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 3 years of varied and complex experience in planning; or 3) any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. For this position focusing on plan review, strong candidates will have a thorough understanding of the zoning, subdivision, and land development process. |
