Description of Job
Under the administrative direction of the Assistant Planning Director for Community Development, the Community Planner is responsible with supporting and supplementing the work efforts of the Crawford County Planning Office. The Community Planner is an entry-level position that involves professional-level duties and responsibilities to implement and develop county-wide and community specific planning initiatives.
The Community Planner performs a wide variety of planning functions including, but not limited to, assists with the development of planning documents, assists with grant writing, oversight of project management and compliance, complies research and analysis to support planning initiatives, and participates in outreach and engagement efforts with community groups, county organizations, municipalities, and the general public on various planning projects. Topics that this position may interact with include transportation planning, recreation and greenway planning, community planning, and housing or redevelopment planning.
Ideal Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, community development, or closely related field. Grant writing and management experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS is required.
