An exciting opportunity to launch a new preservation program for a mid-sized City. Erie, PA has recently created an Historic Review Commission and local historic preservation standards. They have been accepted as a Certified Local Government (CLG) and have received both a CLG Grant and Keystone Preservation Grant to develop a community wide preservation plan. The Preservation Planner will spearhead all of these efforts, build the preservation program, develop policies and procedures for the work of the HRC, assist in maintenance of our CLG status, and be the key lead on all City wide preservation efforts.
A qualified candidate would have a deep appreciation and knowledge of preservation planning, historic architecture, and the like. This position requires a person with strong communication skills at all levels, have an excellent background in community engagement and public education. A bachelor’s degree in historic preservation, architectural history, public history, historic preservation planning, or another related field of study.
