<p>We are seeking a Biological/Environmental Science Project Manager for our office in Pittsburgh, PA to develop and oversee energy projects in the northeast. Our successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the various permitting and environmental documentation processes (e.g. NEPA compliance) for energy projects including pipelines, transmission, and renewables and demonstrated abilities at project management, project-related research and technical writing. </p>
<p> Responsibilities:<br /> • Assist with proposal efforts focusing on environmental permitting for energy sector clients<br /> • Manage a variety of environmental projects for energy clients in the northeast including electrical transmission, pipelines, and wind farms<br /> • Coordinate and meet with energy project developers and owners/operators<br /> • Coordinate and negotiate with Federal and State Agencies<br /> • Direct biological studies including wetland delineations, cultural resource assessments, and T&amp;E surveys<br /> • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and prioritize work assignments<br /> • Prepare NEPA documents and obtain the necessary environmental and other required local, state, and federal permits including wetlands/404 permits and jurisdictional determinations<br /> • Ensure that project teams work together to achieve results – set performance targets for staff, provide inspiring leadership and direction, and actively identify and resolve issues<br /> • Understand and account for project contract requirements, assuring that commitments are met in accordance with deliverables, schedules, and with the appropriate level of quality</p>

<p>Requirements:<br /> • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology or a related discipline<br /> • 5+ years of experience including project / task management experience<br /> • Familiarity with wetland delineations; PWS desired<br /> • Environmental permitting experience required; experience in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Jersey preferred<br /> • Knowledge of major federal statutes and implementing regulations, including NEPA, CWA, CAA, NHPA, etc.<br /> • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills<br /> • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills with attention to detail and a high quality of work in a pressure environment<br /> • Strong project management and technical writing skills<br /> • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, disciplines, and experts including senior management, clients, and other departments<br /> • Ability to travel to support business needs<br /> E &amp; E is its people. <p class="MsoBodyText">John E. Pickett passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the age of 68 after a battle with lung cancer. John had previously survived a battle with prostate cancer. He leaves behind three children – Amy, Evan and Doug.</p>
<p class="MsoBodyText">John was a civil engineer and urban planner with over 40 years of experience. As Director of Planning and Community Development at Delaware County, he managed both the Planning Department and the Office of Housing and Community Development. John began at the Delaware County Planning Department in 1977 before becoming co-director in 1982 and director in 1985. Prior to his over 30-year tenure with Delaware County, John was a project manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. John received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Swarthmore College and a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.</p>
<p class="MsoBodyText">John Pickett was a Charter Member of the American Planning Association (APA) and its professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). He joined APA upon its inception in October 1978 and completed the AICP examination in July 1979. He was a founding member of the County Planning Directors’ Association of Pennsylvania (CPDAP) and its current president. He was an active member of the APA and Pennsylvania Planning Association which later became known as the Pennsylvania Chapter of APA (APA-PA). He served many roles including on the 2007 APA National Conference Local Program Committee, as the Southeast Section Chair, and on the APA-PA board as Vice President and Secratary. He represented Delaware County on the board of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, was on the board of directors of the Delaware County Transportation Management Association, and chaired the Darby Borough Community Development Corporation.  He also served as Director of Delaware County&#8217;s Uniform Construction Code Appeal Board.</p>
<p class="MsoBodyText">A Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania since 1970, Mr. Pickett was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) and in 2006 the Delaware County Chapter awarded John E. Pickett “2006 Engineer of the Year” honor.</p>
<p>His hobbies included American roots music, road tripping to national parks, and reading mystery novels. Family, coworkers, and friends will dearly miss his kind spirit and calm manner.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Michael Kaiser, Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, recently announced his retirement after 50 years with the Commission.  The Commission began operation in January 1961.  Mike began working for LVPC as a planner in August 1963.  He was appointed Assistant Director in April 1967, Acting Director in August 1967, and Executive Director in January 1968, the position he has held ever since. </p>
<p>Mike is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and American Planning Association.  He also has a long history of involvement in state wide and local planning affairs as former member of the Pennsylvania State Planning Board, former President and Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association and former Chair of the Lehigh Valley Section, Pennsylvania Chapter of APA. </p>
<p>All of us at the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association wish him the very best in his retirement.  Thank you for all you have done for Pennsylvania planning. </p>

The Manager will be the strategist for maintaining, developing and implementing creative methods for promoting a strong public image for the neighborhood. </p>
<p> Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p>
<p> Communications and Public Relations Planning, Execution and Oversight <br /> •Develop and implement a comprehensive, creative and strategic marketing, branding and communication plan for the CDC to support its neighborhood plan, programmatic and neighborhood promotion goals.<br /> •In conjunction with CDC staff, and senior leadership team, determine strategies for enhancing the knowledge of PEC’s surrounding neighborhoods, programs and services, as well as sustaining the public perception of PEC as a quality, cutting-edge organization.<br /> •Work with CDC staff and coordinate with development staff to develop a communications plan that addresses needs. Identify other successful methods for both internal and external communications strategies. <br /> •Work with Development department to promote CDC’s communications and public relations agenda, and create positive coverage to enhance our image.<br /> •Coordinate CDC/neighborhood branding and brand awareness in partnership with other senior staff. Work with Development department to ensure consistent use of messages and graphic identity across the organization.<br /> •Demonstrate a keen awareness of the nuances of CDC and PEC’s programs and lines of business and be able to communicate clearly and effectively to multiple and diverse constituencies and stakeholders.<br /> •Identify opportunities to support organization initiatives and develop communications materials and programs that promote and publicize them. <br /> •Oversee printing, graphic design, print production and all forms of external facing messaging and materials for CDC events and programs. <br /> •Provide strategic direction and oversight for the CDC newsletter, social media outreach through CDC’s Lancaster Avenue Facebook page, Make Your Mark blog as well as LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. Work with Vice President, CDC staff and various department directors to ensure communications goals are coordinated and met. <br /> •Write and prepare biweekly e-newsletters and a quarterly newsletter that publicizes the work of the organization and advertises the events and services of other groups in the area. <br /> •Recruit and engage volunteers, as needed, including committee members, for successful completion of communication and public relations tasks.<br /> •Develop a budget for annual communications goals and meet budget requirements. <br /> •Build relationships with various community groups to facilitate communication.<br /> •Help support special projects and ongoing strategies. </p>
<p> Event Planning, Execution and Oversight <br /> •Coordinate public event presence and outreach to the community. Assess current CDC events and activities, determine their impact, and develop an Events Plan and calendar that compliment funding, communications, programming, and public relations goals. <br /> •Perform outreach and broaden participation in CDC’s programs and events.<br /> •Effectively plan and manage events to create positive results and enhance the image of the neighborhoods CDC serves, Lancaster Avenue, and CDC’s work.</td>
