Internships

Planning Internship
The Peters Township Planning Department has an opening for a paid internship for the summer and fall, 2008 semesters.  Applicants should be an Undergraduate or Graduate student in GIS or Regional Planning. 

Peters Township is a fast growing community located in Washington County, PA, approximately 15 miles south of Pittsburgh.

General Description:
Under the administrative direction of the Planning Director, this individual assists in all aspects of Planning and Zoning including Geographic Information System (GIS) projects. The Planning Intern will provide assistance with zoning enforcement, administration and work with the Zoning Hearing Board by writing reports with recommendations and decisions on variance and special exception cases.

Assist in update to zoning and subdivision and land development regulations. Duties will include research and drafting proposed regulations.

Provide support to Planning Director on site plan review, subdivision review.

Provide information to the general public on planning, zoning, and subdivision matters. Assist Planning Department on special projects such as adopting official map, research traffic calming guidelines for inclusion in subdivision regulations, create maps and graphics for department monthly reports, staff reports and assist Planning Department on web page improvements.

Attend Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board meetings
